THE KEEP - Handpull silkscreen art print by IdleBeats Shanghai

THE KEEP - Handpull silkscreen art print by IdleBeats Shanghai

« The Keep » is a new limited edition screen print from Shanghai-based German artist and IdleBeats' co-founder Gregor Koerting. It's the 7th piece of his art print series named "Real Big City”.

- Words from the Artist

« The Keep » is one of the pieces that refers to a real place in Shanghai, China. The main police department of Shanghai is located on Wuning Lu/Wuding Lu. The sharp edges and straight lines of its dismal appearance erected among low community compounds makes it to one of the most impressive buildings of the city to me.

by Gregor Koerting

The Keep,

Plough through blind haze

with my razor sharp concrete bones

Real Big City a fever face

Mirrored in my skin of glass

Deep down in the hysterical maze

Dwells a viscid coexsistence

A desperate race

under my distinctive watch

- About The Series

" The REAL BIG CITY series is a view on the phenomena of sprawling metropolis as postmodern life

environment. Playing with classic Cyber Punk imagery, gloomy architectural, fictional megacities

are snapshots seemingly lost in crime, isolation and desperate decadence. Though behind the

nightmarish picture of dystopia there is hope for individual freedom, multicultural equality and a

new social consciousness this near future urban reality may bring."
