Jieziyuan Huazhuan (Chinese: 芥子園畫傳 "Manual of the Mustard Seed Garden"), sometimes known as Jieziyuan Huapu (芥子園畫譜), is a manual of Chinese painting compiled during the early-Qing Dynasty. Many renowned later Chinese painters, like Qi Baishi, began their drawing lessons with the manual.
Nini re-drew two pages from this traditional painting tutorial book, then made a remix of the mountain, birds, ripple with human face, sunglasses and invisible hands.
The printing is also experimental: one-layer reversed-out black on special laser paper, exposing the hologram surface underneath which reflects ever-changing rainbow light when looking from different angels or in different environment.
- Words from the Artist
