Latvian Idioms #4: A Thistle In The Eye

by Roberts Rurans

There are actually 2 idioms with the same meaning -"A Thistle In The Eye" ("dadzis acī"–Latvian) and "a splinter in the ass" (skabarga pakaļā–Latvian) both shown in this print. It means to have someone or something constantly bothering you. It's a thistle with eyes and it's surprised to see it's own spike in it's ass. Now how did that happen?
