Besides our own Print Isn't Dead magazine, we love discovering the new and exciting magazines being sold within the design industry. Below we've selected a few of the great magazine shops that any magazine-lover should visit ranging from UK-based shops to stores located across the globe. 


Located in central London, magCulture is a space donated to celebrating the best magazines around, with an ever-changing stock of over 350 titles. Feel free to sit, read and browse for as long as you like, it's founder Jeremy Leslie opts a pure-play approach the space having been designed to encourage people to take their time and to enjoy their selection before buying. 



Established in 2008 and operated by Philipp Neumann and Karen Laube, Mzin is filled with unique and special publications offering a wide scope of international and local zines, magazines, catalogs and books from nearly all fields of visual culture: design, art, graphic, architecture, photography, fashion and pop-related issues. If you're visiting Germany, this shop is definitely one to visit!

Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum

Athenaeum store is one of the few major bookstores in the Netherlands that is completely independent. Complete with a large stock of literary material, the Athenaeum News Centre Offers foreign and local newspapers and magazines, plus a selection of travel guides and books on design, fashion and lifestyle. 


Located on Charing Cross Road in London and several other locations across the globe, Foyles is a bookshop chain known once upon a time for the world's largest bookshop in terms of shelf area (30 miles/50 kilometres) and number of titles on display. Although this is now not the case, nonetheless this store is one not to miss for any magazine and book lover. 

Vintage Magazine Shop

For the retro-lovers out there, the Vintage Magazine Shop in Soho London is perfect to unearth out of print magazines, vintage editions and many many fabulous goodies!

Magazine Brighton

Opened in 2014 along the British coast, Magazine Brighton now have a huge collection of independent magazines stocking 400+ titles. Holding talks, events and publication launches, the space and its surrounding independent stores alike is certainly not one to miss. 

Colours May Vary

In the north of England, Colours May Vary is another great independent shop stocking a range of beautiful, useful and inspirational wares. Focusing on graphic art and design, typography, illustration, and product design, the store stocks a variety of printed goods such as books, journals, prints, cards, gifts, wrap and stationery. And to top it off their beautiful collections are both locally and Internationally sourced from a mix of established and up-and-coming producers. 

Ideas On Paper

Ideas On Paper is a concept store centred around independent magazines, journals, books and stationery ; collaborating with a number of local makers and creatives offering a carefully curated selection of products all linked by the theme of paper. Located in Nottingham, UK.
