New to the store this week is Diane Bresson, a London based graduate from Central Saint Martins BA Textile Design specialising in Print. Her focus is the relation between craft and technology, exploring how they can be combined together to create playful and dynamic patterns through her limited edition print series.
Her collection includes the Tangram series, a series that first started as screen printed wallpaper that explored combinations of shapes and colours. From this, Diane created 15 different giclee prints, each one limited to 10 copies numbered and signed by the artist. Using a combination of line, colour and shape, you're left with a collection of bold, playful piece inspired by Tangram puzzle which was studied in more depth by Martin Gardner.
"I get my inspiration from various fields but I am mainly intrigued by how elemental shapes can be built into more complex compositions. For my series of limited edition prints, I took inspiration from the Tangram puzzle which was studied in more depth by Martin Gardner. During his 25 years, he wrote a column called ‘Mathematical Games’ in the Scientific American that explored the construction of puzzles, patterns and optical illusions."
